Our Health Walks are based around the village of Kemnay, which is blessed with many walks both in the village and surrounding woodlands.
The Health Walks are normally around 45-60 minutes, and these are supported by trained volunteer Walk Leaders. We also offer a shorter, gentler walk (approx. 20- 30 minutes depending on abilities), this is also supported by two trained Walk Leaders. In happier, normal times all of the Friday walks end up in the Community Cafe at Kemnay Village Hall, where tea, coffee and home bakes have been much enjoyed. There has therefore been a strong socialising element within the programme for healthy bodies and healthy minds.
COVID 19 Position
Health Walks have been affected by the Coronavirus outbreak. We had to suspend walk for several months from March 2020, and have taken advice from the Scottish Health Walk Network and Paths for All to be able to restart walks as restrictions permit.
We have decided to create walks designed around three groups, based on ability, each supported by one or two Walk Leaders. Unfortunately we are not currently permitted to meet indoors, or socialise as a group after a walk, so the end of walk get together for tea and scones is not possible at this time. We will of course adhere to Covid restrictions as they change and take further advice from Paths for All, to ensure that all Walkers and Walk Leaders are safe. All walks being offered have been risk assessed to take into account Health and Safety and Covid mitigation measures.
