Friday 23rd July 2021. Another usual Friday Health Walk? Not yesterday!! One of our long established Health Walk Leaders, Sharita Mohamed, is leaving us to move down to Shropshire to be nearer family. Sharita has been a stalwart on Friday Health Walks, Strength and Balance group and Kemnay Kestrels. Yesterday we took the opportunity to thank Sharita and wish her bon voyage, with a few gifts and our good wishes. Sharita, you will be missed. Here are some photos of the event.

The Gentle Walkers Group

July 2021. At long last we can report that an outdoor Strength & Balance Group meeting has been arranged for 18th August at 10am at Birley Bush community Garden, weather permitting. We will get the chance to be introduced again after this long while in isolation.  We aim to start with some gentle exercise, and hope we can have another outdoor session in September before getting back into the Village Hall min October.

We wanted to share this great video message recorded by Jason Leitch (Scotland’s National Clinical Director) endorsing health walks -. It’s very encouraging for us all

Important Information – Update 17th May 2021

From 17th May 2021 Scotland has moved from Level 3 to Level 2 Covid-19 restrictions (apart from Glasgow City and Moray, which remain in Level 2). We have been walking on a Friday and Buggy Walks on a Thursday since 19th March, with regularly up to 30 walkers on a Friday. This large group has been split into three sub groups, with gentle walkers meeting at one end of Bogbeth Park, and two longer walk groups meeting outside the bowling club pavilion. Meeting there at 0930 hours on a Friday. Buggy Walks meet at 1000 hours on a Thursday.

Kemnay Kestrels have also been walking every Wednesday since that time, with generally two walks depending on numbers. Walks are communicated via email each week.

This is positive news for Positive Steps Kemnay – we are going in the right direction!

Important Information – Update 25th February 2021

Paths for All have confirmed following Nicola Sturgeon’s update on 23rd February that there are no changes to health walks at this time. There was also no indication as to when they may be able to resume. All a bit frustrating but we can still walk in pairs and hope for better news.

Meanwhile the Committee of Positive Steps Committee continues to meet (by Zoom) and with the Annual Reports needing to be prepared and presented to our Annual General Meeting, it is a time for reflecting on a strange year and planning for a more active year!!

It would be good to hear back from you and hear what you may have managed to do outside.

Important Information – Update 4th January 2021
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions we have suspended all walking within the various groups of Positive Steps Kemnay until further notice, at least until end January 2021. Please watch out for further emails, notices on our Facebook site and other social media for more updates. We all wish to resume walking as soon as possible, but in the meantime please adhere to Covid-19 restrictions and stay safe.
